One of the oldest galleries in the Red Sea city, ATHR first opened in 2009 to provide a sustainable art space. Over a decade later, ATHR Gallery continues to celebrate incredible local and contemporary artists. It is currently hosting three exhibitions you can check out over an arty afternoon. Here is everything to know about the celebrated creative space.
What is ATHR Gallery?
ATHR Gallery is a byword for contemporary art in Jeddah. You can head over to the gallery and delve into several art forms including conceptual, visual and performance art. There is always something to explore as the Al Faisaliyyah creative space has year-round displays of collections from local and international artists across various themes. Additionally, you have the opportunity to buy some of the special pieces. Watch the brand’s Instagram, Facebook and X (Twitter) channels as ATHR also hosts regular interactive events.
Where is ATHR Gallery?
ATHR Gallery is located on the fifth floor of the Serafi Mega Mall in Al Faisaliyyah. It is situated right across the street from Cenomi’s Jeddah Park.
When is ATHR Gallery open?
You can get inspired by modern art every day of the week at ATHR, except Friday. From Sunday to Tuesday, as well as on Thursdays, ATHR Gallery is open from 10am to 2pm, then again from 5pm to 9pm. On Wednesdays, you can check out the creative space from 9am to 9pm and on Saturdays from 4pm to 9pm.
Do I need tickets for ATHR Gallery?
You do not need to pre-book a ticket to check out the space. There is free entry,
How big is the gallery?
ATHR Gallery is spread across over 1,800 square metres with multiple exhibition spaces. So, you can spend an enjoyable couple of hours here.
Is the art for sale?
Yes, you can buy the art displayed at the gallery through artsy.net. Remember that as you’re touring around the interesting new exhibitions. You might just find something perfect for the corner of your living room or a brilliant painting to spruce up your bedroom wall.
So, what is AKHTR?
No, that is not a typo. AKHTR and ATHR are different things. AKHTR is actually a dedicated space for experimental contemporary art that is backed by ATHR. The former focuses on curating experimental art by using cool technology that engages all of your senses for an immersive experience.

Is AKHTR in the same place as ATHR?
No. AKHTR is located in Hayy Jameel – another one of the city’s buzzing art spaces in the Al Mohammidiyah district. AKHTR is considered an extension of the programmes of ATHR, which is the flagship location. AKHTR is open from Sunday to Wednesday from 10am to 8pm and on Thursdays to Saturdays from 2pm to midnight.
Are there multiple ATHR galleries?
ATHR Gallery has branched out across Saudi for different projects. For example, the space has hosted pop-ups in Riyadh’s unofficial art capital JAX District in Diriyah. Additionally, the ancient oasis of AlUla also has an ATHR Gallery located in Aljadidah.
