Grab your boarding passes: A brand-new airport is coming to Riyadh soon.

King Salman International Airport will be one of the world’s largest airports covering an area of about 57 square kilometres, with six parallel runways, plus, existing terminals named after His Highness King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

High Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz confirmed plans for the airport on Monday November 28, 2024.

King Salman Airport is the newest airport heading to the Saudi capital set to be one of the largest in the world, covering an area of around 57 square kilometres. It will include six parallel runways and terminals named after His Highness King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The sustainable airport will also have a whopping 12 kilometres of airport support facilities, residential and recreational facilities and different retail stores (shopping alert!).

The interior of King Salman International Airport will also reflect the culture of Saudi through and through. And while full details have yet to be announced on the designs, we’re expecting it to be amazing. Keep on Time Out for the latest.

As of August 20, 2024, the King Salman International Airport Company (KSIADC), a Public Investment Fund company, announced a new partnership with four leading local and international companies in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction and air traffic management.

The collab is part of the new phase to develop the airport into a hub for tourism, travel and transportation in Saudi and worldwide destinations.
