The first-ever Red Sea Marathon is coming – and it’s closer than you think

The event will include four categories and distances

Lace up your sneaks: The first Red Sea Marathon is sprinting into Saudi next year.

Announced by the Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation (SAAF) at a press conference in Jeddah, the exciting new races will see around 10,000 local and international runners take to the racing path at the beginning of 2025.

The marathon will be split into four categories dedicated to four different distances for beginners to pro sprinters.

Red Sea Marathon

Marking the first event of its kind, the new marathon was announced by Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation (SAAF) for 2025. The event will include four categories based on running levels across various distances including a full marathon (42.2 kilometres) for amateurs and pros, a half marathon (21.1 kilometres) for avid runners, a 10-kilometre race for contestants aged 17 and above and a 4-kilometre race for beginners and children.

Additionally, SAAF revealed that it intends to host the marathon on an annual basis in partnerrship with Sports Hub. That’s not all. The event also promises big wins with a significant prize pool in store for winning pro runners, however the exact number has yet to be revealed.

As the name suggests, the marathon is heading to the Red Sea, specifically the Red Sea city of Jeddah, although the exact location has yet to be revealed. Keep on this page for the latest.
