New Abha International Airport plans revealed

The airport will operate more than 90,000 flights per year

Abha is getting a new airport.

Plans were unveiled for the new Abha International Airport on Thursday October 12 by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs via the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The new Abha International Airport masterplan highlights the airport becoming a key Saudi landmark that celebrates the heritage of the Aseer region.

If you’re looking to travel to and from Abha, the first phase of the new Abha International Airport will be completed by 2028. It will expand to 65,000 square metres. That will make the new development six times bigger that Abha’s current 10,5000-square-metre terminal.

The first phase of the new Abha airport expansion plans also include parking facilities, passenger boarding bridges and self-service facilities for more streamlined travel procedures. The new airport will have 20 gates, including 41 check-in counters and seven of the new self-service check-ins.
